Working with over 3000 weavers across Kenya, Ghana & East Africa the basket room create handmade, ethical baskets & homewares. With the goal to connect traditional weavers with a wider market, reducing dependency on often unreliable self sufficiency farming, The Basket Room works to empower women & preserve ancient skills.
Get organised with the NDIZI baskets, designed exclusively by The Basket Room. Available in three sizes, these beautiful baskets are woven from banana tree bark fibres & local sisal. Perfect to use as indoor planters or flower pots, for storing household bits and bobs: slippers and blankets, remotes and cables, knitting, soft toys – the list is endless!
Handwoven by a small collective of female weavers living near the Masinga Dam in Kenya. Their chair lady started managing basket production in 1993, and today she leads several groups with specific production roles from twisting to dyeing and weaving sisal fibers.
