When first opening, a white layer on top is natural due to temperature's effect on the cocoa butter, this does not impact the quality of the product - simply blend with finger or brush.
As a 100% natural product, balm can become grainy if exposed to temperature changes. To fix this, simply re-melt in a warm (not too hot) oven, stir and let cool fully - balm will be back to normal!
